End of June - 02 July

Almost there - Stand By

In the middle of June I put a sign up sheet at church for parade walkers / helpers with the old truck / maybe a float / maybe some interest - got one family that signed up.

Well the end of June did not look good for us to be in the 4th of July Parade. I took the truck out for a ride after church on the 23rd of June and shut it off when I got home.  Didn't want to start up again.  Jeffery came over, (Thanks again Jeffery), and WE (Jeffery) did a quick check of the engine and WE (Jeffery) noticed a weak spark, clogged fuel vacuum pump and low gas level in the tank - worked on all that and it still did not want to start, so we (I did help here) pushed it into the garage.  The rest of the week was busy and I never really got a chance to get w/Jeffery on looking at the truck anymore that week.  But I did get a change to push it out of the garage to wash and wax it.

Bob Stein came over on Friday the 28th and after some basic tests - determined that the spark was too weak. We (Bob) changed the ignition coil and condenser and one push of the starter button (Dave) she fired right up.  We (Bob) tuned it up and then took it to church for a ride - road the best it ever has since I owned it.

I texted Linda - We are back in the parade!!

The Nuwer Families arrived for the weekend - good, I need help getting the horn to work again.

Took Talan out for a ride in the truck around the block - truck was sputtering and acting up but we made it back home.  Then I took Eugene

for a short spin and the truck was still acting up, but we made it home. Took Dave and Talan for a spin in the truck and it did not go well at all.  Quit 1/2 way around the development -time to push it back home.  Eugene met us - must of sensed something wrong or he just stopped hearing the truck in the development.  He jumped in and got it going to get it back home.  We worked on the horn for the rest of the night and then pushed it in the garage.

After a night of charging the battery, I, Bob showed me how - thanks Bob, tested the condenser and it seemed to need a new one - changed that and it fired right up.  Looks like we will need some work on what is going on w/the electric system.

30 June - after church I took it into town to fill it up w/gas and put some lead substitute in there to help it.  Ran good.  Plugged the battery up to the trickle charger for the rest of the week.
02 July - hooked up the battery and pressed the starter button and it fired right up w/no problem.  Will probably take it around the block tonight after work just to make sure it is good to go for the 4th.

Will have to work on the horn before the 4th, but I am confident it will work (Thanks Eugene).

I am hoping to have a few people riding along with me during the parade and of course Miss Maple.
Hoping also that someone will be able to film/FaceBook - live feed the parade so that I can get it on my blog for all my followers.

I will have Linda send out a message on FaceBook on how to follow the blog also.  I know some have signed up for email updates, but if you hit the follow button under the FOLLOWERS - you will be added to the 15 followers that are listed there already.

Also for those that have been asking about how to help and to donate some Spare change to the restoration of this truck - click on the word PayPal that is near the top left of the page - and Thanks for that.
