Flywheel and learning something new - Pretty cool
Bob Stein from church came over to look at the truck - just in conversation at church - learned he worked on classic cars when he was in college and is currently helping someone with a Model T - pretty cool. We tried starting it up but had no success and of course that got us both into figuring out why - since it started up the last 2 days. He asked all the questions about what we have been doing with the car and then the fun began for the day.
There is also a 40 degree marking on the flywheel - but I did not take a picture of that (at least I think there is)
In trying to fine tune the truck it worked better if we followed the 1928 engine directions instead of the 1927:
SO now the issue becomes what year is the truck actually, but that is for another post/date, as I am still researching that information.
IGNITION TIMING Chevrolet Models 1925 to June, 1927 (all models
without semi-automatic advance).—Crank motor until the intake valve in No. 1
cylinder opens and closes. Continue cranking until piston in No. 1 , cylinder
is at top dead center; set the cam in the distributor so that the points just
begin to break. Spark lever fully retarded.
Chevrolet Models 1927-28 (semi-automatic spark
control).—Crank the motor until both valves in No. 1 cylinder are closed.
Continue cranking until the 25° mark on the flywheel is in line with the
pointer. With the spark lever fully advanced rotate the distributor body
anti-clockwise until breaker joints just start to open.
The other thing is that we left the spark plugs gapped at 0.030 thinking it is a 1927 - but in research - if in fact it is a 1928 the plugs need to be sparked at 0.025 -something I will do tonight - know that I know how to gap spark plugs. Thanks again Bob for stopping over - it was fun and I learned alot.

You are becoming so knowledgeable on fixing up old cars maybe you can do that when you retire, like those who flip houses you can flip cars~!!!!!!
