Jeffrey Say - It is not getting gas - Dave Says..................

Well - I am pretty sure the heading says it all - looks like it is a trip to the Gas station It would of started last night..........if only..............it had GAS - but then that is what makes this project even more fun. Thanks again to Jeffrey

Distributor arrived

"New" Distributor arrived over the weekend - it looks nice.  Great price and had the parts I was missing - just hope that this is the actual problem.  Came home from Camping early today and had to clean up and cut the grass - then it was time to work on the truck.  Jeffrey took and combined the two carburetors and hopefully we will have positive results.  I am hoping that I could use the hand crank - well maybe sometime soon.  And we have spark!

Miss Maple Update

Image
Went camping after work on the 26th of the weekend - Miss Maple did great - nothing eaten that shouldn't have been - at least not on the camping trip - You see it was still a costly week.  Someone left their glasses laying on the end of the couch and puppies like to chew things - shiny and sparkly these glasses were - not sure they tasted too good - but Miss Maple did put some pretty impressive teeth marks on the special coating of the lenses.  Maybe Mommy should of gotten that eye glass insurance they offered for only $20.00 - could of saved $579.00. But in the long run - We had a good camping trip - I even got my own cool looking chair Sorry to see that Mr. Woody got burned  - he got a little too close to the fire - but he did warm us up. Thanks Woody!

Almost - but not yet - but soon

So as of this morning 0515 hours - nothing - not happy about that - but I have come to my own non-mechanical expertise opinion that I have and that is that it has something to do with the distributor - as all the other parts in the vehicle are brand new - tested and working - just not getting any spark from the distributor to the plugs.   Thanks to my neighbor Jeffrey who came over on Sunday and Tuesday of this week to help me work on the truck  to try to get it going.  Working with Jeff is always a treat - I learn something new each time with the mechanics of the truck.  Before he came over on Sunday I put the new Points in - thinking this would be the magic part that needed to be changed to get it to start - well I did know that the points needed to be a gap of  0.022 - 0.025 - just didn't know where this magical gap needed to be - turns out I had a gap of close to 1/8 inch and Jeff showed me and fixed it to the correct gap - but it still did not work. Today - must be my

I Think I can - I Think I can

But first the new parts and fixed parts that my brother Bryan, Nephew Dave and Phil helped to replace this weekend. Busy weekend - got the carburetor back - thanks Eugene - looks good - Nephew Dave put it in along with the new fuel filter while I was cleaning the fish - sneaky kid.  Eugene even sent me a gift - thanks brother.  I was going to send him the Klaxon horn to work on - but I decided to try it one more try.  In addition to that we put in a new ignition coil, distributor cap and some wires along with a ignition condenser.  Check out that fuel filter - looks good. Then it was time to fire it up - I will let the video tell you the rest of the story........... Not much different from the last time - but I think it is getting there - a quick google search and it might be just a case of a bad, rusty or loose connection with some wire leading to the ignition coil - but then again I am no mechanic - but it sounds good to me.

July 4th Camping Trip

Image
Not much work on the truck these last few weeks as the temperature has been in the high 90's and with no A/C in the garage - it was not worth it.  My brother-in-law, Eugene, took the carburetor home to try and fix it - it is coming back this Thursday - 12 July - so maybe by the end of this week it will fire up.  Here's hoping.  Stand by Eugene - the horn is coming your way - as it is only working some of the time and I don't want to take it apart - seems I always have some extra parts when I am done. Miss Maple did much better on this camping trip - no emergency room visits.  This trip was a bunch of 1st's for her - she took her 1st swim, 1st boat ride and saw up close her 1st fish - I don't think she liked any of them.  Due to the heat during the days (95-100), she was mostly a lap dog, or just trying to dig in the ground to lay down.   Here is a shout out to Miss Mollie Marie who turned 1 on the 6th of July

1993 Judges Award

1993 BANNERTOWN FAIR OF FULTON COUNTY FIREMENS DAY PARADE JUDGES AWARD Here a link to the Bannertown Fair that is held Aug 16 - 18, 2018 https://www.facebook.com/events/2113638862296977/ Note to self: It seemed easier to take the Klaxon horn apart and put together then to disassemble this award, clean it, and put it back together - good thing I took a lot of pictures of the award.
