End of Camping Season 2019

Image
Sad to say that this is the end of Camping Season for 2019 (We already made reservations for our 2020 Church Camping Trip in May and of course for Elvis week) We went to Watkins Glen State Campground from 24 August to the 29th of August. We have to say Thanks to Jeff and Di for making the arrangements on this trip. We have never been to Watkins Glen or the Finger Lake region - if you ever get a chance - it is well worth the trip. The gorge walk is the best - Here is some good advice. If yo u leave a car at one end f the trail and one at the other end make sure you take your keys with you - DON'T leave them in the car. We are making plans to go back in 2021 and to another campground called Sampson State Park - check it out if you can - they have cabins on the lake also.  https://www.reserveamerica.com/explore/sampson-state-park/NY/232/overview It was perfect weather and Miss Maple enjoyed herself While you may have assumed that our largest ...

Here we are at the start (pictures by Jeffrey) I was looking for Jeffrey - guess I was the only one who did not see him and Di. Sorry! And we are off to the parade..............Looking forward to next year already. The grandchildren had fun - $30.00 worth of candy gone before we even went 1/2 mile of the 1.5 mile route.  Some lucky little boy and girl got 8 Twizzlers right off the bat.....

End of June - 02 July

Almost there - Stand By In the middle of June I put a sign up sheet at church for parade walkers / helpers with the old truck / maybe a float / maybe some interest - got one family that signed up. Well the end of June did not look good for us to be in the 4th of July Parade. I took the truck out for a ride after church on the 23rd of June and shut it off when I got home.  Didn't want to start up again.  Jeffery came over, (Thanks again Jeffery), and WE (Jeffery) did a quick check of the engine and WE (Jeffery) noticed a weak spark, clogged fuel vacuum pump and low gas level in the tank - worked on all that and it still did not want to start, so we (I did help here) pushed it into the garage.  The rest of the week was busy and I never really got a chance to get w/Jeffery on looking at the truck anymore that week.  But I did get a change to push it out of the garage to wash and wax it.         Bob Stein came over on F...

Self - Care

Self - Care I went to St. Bonaventure University from the 12th to the 15th of June.  Working on and hoping to obtain a Master's in Clinical Mental Health Counseling.   Figured I am 54 years old, the 2nd youngest of 7 kids (5 sisters and 1 brother), was in the Navy for 23 years, - or as I call those things - a lot of experience or case studies to talk about.     The Dr. that taught us the class on Self-Care did stress that we need to do something to keep us healthy.  She has a yoga mat in her office that she uses from time to time - not me.  I will pass on that for now.   I got some home work done earlier in the day and when I got home from work - I fixed the small gas leak and then took the truck for an 8.87 mile ride - with no training wheels (meaning no one was following me just in case).   It ran well, but after shutting it down it overheats - not sure if this is normal or not, but that is what it does....
