Introducing Miss Maple - 18 March

Image
We have been pet free for the last 5 years and last winter we put in new carpeting - a very light color carpet.  Sometime around the beginning of the year Boo and I would discuss the idea of having a dog and we would even look at them in the malls or after work we would visit a shelter  - but we never did anything with that.   18 March we were driving back from my Niece's baby shower when we went north of Rochester to just look.  I remember asking my wife why a Golden-Doodle and not a shelter dog, because those are a lot cheaper.  Her reply - "I didn't say anything about that truck you bought." Point - Linda - noted - end of subject.  I never even heard of a Golden-Doodle before - let alone know what the price would be, but with a 1927 pick up in storage and no where to house it yet at our house - who was I to complain.  Out of the three puppies - yes puppies - that were there we both fell in love with  Miss Maple

Still in Storage - 27 Jan

One Week Later (January 27, 2018) Took a ride w/Boo today to look at the truck  - not as excited as I thought she would be  - thinking she just needs to get behind the wheel or take a ride it and then it will be okay - Good thing - and stop me if I mentioned this before - it is a Chevy.

It all started - 20 January 2018

Went to an estate auction on 20 January 2018 (by myself) - My boo didn't want to go - but one thing lead to another and the next thing you know it is - SOLD - things happen fast sometimes. Turns out I  happened to be standing next to the son of the man who owned the truck - before I actually said I would take it - he told me I could keep the truck there in storage until spring - (I don't even have a garage to store it in yet).  He also stated that it should just need a good tune up, battery, change the oil, spark plugs and clean out the gas tank and carburetor and it should fire up - AND WE HAVE A WINNER - SOLD TO BIDDER NUMBER - 83. Of course I will admit that I don't know the 1st thing about restoring, fixing up, getting to run again a 1927 Chevrolet - but I will tell you that I will give it my best shot.  I think the harder part might be trying to explain the purchase to my wife when I get home - but at least it is a Chevy, so that should get me a few good points...
